Who Faces Justify In Belmont Stakes

Belmont Stakes Preview

Now that the super horse has won the first two legs of the Triple Crown who will he face in the Belmont Stakes?  Let's try and figure out who he will face in a few weeks.  Todd Pletcher will probably enter Vino Rosso, this big colt by Curlin is stabled at Belmont and has started to come into his own.  He was bounced around in the Kentucky Derby from the onset, he is starting to come into his own and could appreciate the added distance, will probably be at the back of the pack and come with a late kick.  Magnum Moon had probably the worst trip in the Derby, he was bounced around from beginning to end, Pletcher still loves how he came out of the race and don't be fooled by his 19th place finish he's better then that and will be a last minute decision.

Hofburg is owned by Juddmonte Farms and trained by Bill Mott, he worked May 18th in 49.32 6th out of 50 for that morning.  He's a Tapit colt that still acts young for his age, he has not shown his full ability on the track as he does in the morning said Mott, he has a ton of ability and loves to work and should have no issues with the distance.  Now comes Audible, the horse has the same owners as Justify-Winstar Farm, Starlight Racing and China Horse Club International.  Do the connections go ahead and give the OK to run or wait for the Travers or Haskell?  How soon does Pletcher need to know by?  They are probably leaning on not to race.  Here now we give you Solomini, a Baffert trained guy that could Justify a run for his money-owned by Zayat Stables his work on May 14th in 47.00 was a eye opener for all that saw the work, does Bob Baffert give the go with him or does he talk the Zayats out of running?  He's working out of Churchill and people are impressed on how he's doing.  Are you confused yet?  This Belmont Stakes is about getting Justify to the winners circle, with so many owners and trainers in the same circle it's making it tough for others to make a solid decision.  Free Drop Billy trained by Dale Romans is another sleeper you have to keep an eye on, his traffic problems in the Derby made him change course at least 5 times during the race, the Union Rags colt might have issues getting the distance but could be a factor in the stretch, if it's a small field do not count his chances out.

Jerry Hollendorfer is touting his horse Instilled Regard to everyone he comes in contact with.  The colt by Arch is putting on weight and working lights out in the morning, finishing 4th to Justify in the Santa Anita Derby and Kentucky Derby he will be a game time decision, his breeding says no way but his gallops out in the am say otherwise.  If entered he could be the sleeper and Baffert knows it, he's seen him work in the morning and said if he goes to New York he has the style to be in the mix at the end.  Bravazo had a tremendous run in the lane at the Preakness, Lukas said he's headed to New York to give it a shot.  A late closing colt from Awesome Again has the credentials to upset Justify if the pace is quick.  If Justify gets away early it could be over unless someone goes with him like Good Magic did in the Preakness.  The 2018 Belmont Stakes is better on paper then most people think, the distance, the weather and the sweeping turns of Big Sandy will have a say in the final furlong.
